07 AUG 8 BEST PICNIC SPOTS IN LONDON

We’ve curated a list of the best picnic spots in London, some family-friendly, some romantic, but all are free and guaranteed to provide the most stunning surroundings this summer.

Most Famous London Picnic Spots

  1. Hyde Park

Hyde Park is one of the most visited green spaces in London and for good reason. With 340 acres of picnic spots to choose from, you’ll be able to find somewhere that’s just right for you whether it’s a secluded bench, the rose garden or by the lake, watching the pedalos float by.

  1. Soho Square

Be warned, this is a very small area for a picnic compared to some of the other choices on this list but Soho Square gives off the best ‘London’ atmosphere. If you’re in the area, it’s the best spot to have a quick lunch and soak up the surroundings of London life.

London Picnic Spots with a View

  1. Primrose Hill

Primrose Hill is a classic spot that could be argued to have the best view in London. The top of the hill is 60 metres above sea level, so it provides the perfect view of the infamous London skyline. Be prepared to climb high for the best spot!

  1. Kew Gardens

Okay, so Kew Gardens isn’t free, but children under 4 can enter for free, and members get free entry all year round. We had to include Kew because the bustling botanical gardens set the scene for one of the most beautiful picnics you’ll ever have. There are countless spots to choose from plus a designated picnic area and of course food is available to buy on-site if you forget to bring extra nibbles.

Family-friendly London Picnic Spots

  1. Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is the perfect backdrop for any picnic. The newly renovated gardens situated at the front of the museum have lots of interactive elements for kids to get involved in. Guests are welcomed to relax and picnic here but it’s recommended to pre-book a free ticket in advance during busier months.

  1. Brockwell Park

Brockwell Park has lots of things to do besides munch on a picnic. The park consists of a grade II listed building to walk around as well as a kids playground and lido to keep the little ones entertained.

Romantic London Picnic Spots

  1. St Dunstan-in-the-East

St Dunstan-in-the-East is a hidden gem in a not-so-hidden part of London. Just round the corner from London Bridge, church ruins have been transformed into an urban jungle through a beautiful public garden. It’s so romantic that it’s become a hotspot for proposals in recent years.

  1. Waterlow Park

Waterlow Park is one of the more secluded, but underrated spots on the list, this 26-acre park in North London has a kitchen garden and orchard. The park is also home to lots of wildlife so take your picnic on a summer morning to spot anything from a hedgehog to a heron!
