8 Autumnal Cocktail Recipes to try this October

Has the cold weather and shorter evenings got you feeling a little glum? A little cocktail might be all you need for a pick-me-up this autumn. Explore our picks of pumpkin spice, hot tequila, rum hot chocolate, spiced apple, buttered rum and pear punch autumnal cocktail recipes.


Note: all of these recipes create one serving. Simply double the measurements to make these delicious cocktails for two. To perfect these recipes, you’ll need a Double Jigger Spirit Measure


Pumpkin Spice Martini

Warmly spiced, creamy and rich.  


Ingredients: double measure of vodka, single measure of pumpkin spice syrup, double measure of cream, cinnamon


Method: shake all the ingredients together with ice and strain into a martini glass. Top with a sprinkle of powdered cinnamon and extra whipped cream if you desire.


Enjoy in our peach martini glass for extra effect.


Hot Tequila Chai

Citrusy, warm tequila - great on the tastebuds, great for colds too!


Ingredients: single measure of tequila, double measure of orange juice, 1 tbsp honey, 120ml hot water, 1 chai tea bag


Method: let the teabag brew in hot water for a few minutes, add the honey and leave to melt, remove the teabag and pour into your glass. Add the tequila and orange juice, stir.


Enjoy in our double walled, heat resistant glasses for extra effect.


Rum Caramel Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate but make it deluxe… and a little boozy


Ingredients: one measure spiced or dark rum, 2 tsp dulce de leche caramel sauce, 150ml whole milk, 50g milk chocolate


Method: Mix together the rum and dulce de leche until smooth - set aside. Warm the milk in a saucepan over a medium heat until simmer, remove from the heat, add the chocolate and stir until melted. Put the pan back on the heat, then add the rum mixture and a small pinch of salt, pour into a mug and enjoy!


Spiced Apple Gin

This refreshing cider-based cocktail isn’t too sweet, but it is a welcome taste during the darker months.


Ingredients: a double measure of gin, two double measures of apple cider, single measure of apple juice, 1x cinnamon stick, fresh apple slices, tonic water


Method: Fill a glass with plenty of ice, add the gin, cider and apple juice, top with tonic water, apple slices and a cinnamon stick, add a small squeeze of lemon for a zingy finish.


Hot Buttered Rum

Again, we’ve served up a recipe that’s bound to warm you up in these colder months. This hot buttered rum is like a hug in a mug.


Ingredients: one double shot of dark rum, half tbsp soft brown sugar, half tsp cinnamon, pinch of nutmeg, 1 tbsp unsalted butter, 1 cinnamon stick

Method: Melt the butter, then add the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour in the rum and stir. Pour your mixture into a heatproof glass and top up with 50ml of hot water, serve with a cinnamon stick to finish.


Mulled Pear and Cranberry Punch

Unlike our other recipes, this punch makes up to 10 servings, perfect for parties and gatherings in the colder months.


Ingredients: 1 litre of pear cider, 1 litre of cloudy apple juice, 500ml of cranberry juice, 150ml gin, small handful of fresh or dried cranberries, 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 tsp vanilla extract


Method: very simply, put all of the ingredients into a saucepan, heat to just below simmering point, and serve into heat proof glasses.
