Festival Essentials Guide 2024: The Ultimate Checklist
Not everyone is built for camping this festival season because let’s face it, it’s hot, sweaty and a lot of faff! Really though if it’s your thing, we won’t judge and go and get stuck-in! For the festival day-goers we’ve put together a packing list for the likes of Reading, Leeds, Glastonbury and more to stay hydrated, comfortable and mostly, to have fun!
Power bank
Bring a fully-charged power bank to keep you and your friends powered-up so you can take as many videos as possible when your favourite act enters the stage. We’d also recommend bringing your phone charging wire because lots of festivals will also have charging port stations.
Sun saviours
We know it’s super boring but sun protection is essential. Pack a baseball cap, sunglasses and a high-level SPF sun cream. Remember to reapply throughout the day!
Capture those memories
You could pack a pocket digital camera or instant camera to free-up storage on your phone and capture those candid moments.
Hands-free enjoyment
Pack a bum-bag or cross-body satchel so that holding your bag is one less thing to worry about!
Reusable Drinks Bottles
It’s crucial to stay hydrated. Some festivals now encourage you to bring your own reusable bottle to cut down on waste.
UK festivals that encourage reusable bottles:
Reading/Leeds Festival - allows empty bottles of any size, can be plastic or metal
Green Man Festival - allows empty bottles of any size, can be plastic or metal
Isle of Wight Festival - allows empty bottles of any size
Camp Bestival - allows any kind of reusable bottle
Latitude - allows any kind of reusable bottle (empty)
Boardmasters - allows any kind of reusable bottle (empty)
Alcohol Accessories
Some festivals, especially those with camping facilities, will allow you to bring alcohol into the event. However, nearly all festivals prohibit glass due to safety hazards. Be one step ahead and bring a reusable wine bottle and perhaps some wine tumblers to share your tipple amongst friends. For the beer drinkers, there are reusable pint cups if you want to bring your favourite ale or even just an energy drink to keep you going. Insulated accessories will also help to keep your drink cool, ideal for those scorching hot summer days.
Don’t forget the humble hip flask! If you want to bring in something slightly stronger, a slim hip flask would be the perfect size to slip into your pocket or bag.
Other essentials
It may sound silly, but it’s easy to forget some of these!
