Our Ice Cube Tray Hacks & Ideas

Here’s our list of different things you can do with ice trays…
1. Create snack bars
2. Portion baby food, stocks and sauces
3. Create rainbow crushed ice
4. Create realistic ice disco balls
5. Make ice cream and jelly spheres
6. Prepare frozen dog treats for hot days
How to… create snack bars with an ice tray
Find a slim ice tray that can produce rectangular sticks, these trays are often used to create ice that can fit into water bottles. Mix up your own blend of grains, nuts, dried fruits, oats, chocolate chips, peanut butter and maple syrup. Portion the mixture into the moulds, and pop in the fridge for at least an hour to set. We recommend our Ice Sticks Mould for the best snack-sized bars.
How to… portion baby food and leftover sauces with an ice tray
To portion, prepare and freeze baby food, you’ll need an extra large ice cube tray. Cook and blend the food and divide into the moulds. Leave to cool completely before putting in the freezer. When you need one portion, simply pop out just one frozen block and you can put the rest of the tray back in the freezer for another day. Leave the ice block in a bowl to thaw out until ready. We recommend our Giant Ice Cube Tray for perfectly portioned food each time, plus the lid helps to prevent any mess in the freezer.
How to… create rainbow crushed ice
Find an ice tray that has small 1cm gaps, this will create ice small enough to create the effect of crushed ice. Imagine the ice tray divided into 4 sections. Using food-safe colouring or squash, create 4 cups of yellow, red, blue and green water. Pour these colours, in order, across the ice mould to create a rainbow effect. Freeze immediately and serve with a clear drink to really see the effect! We recommend our set of Mini Ice Trays to get double the amount of ice.

How to… create realistic ice disco balls
You’ll need to use a golf ball ice mould for this one. Hear us out.. golf balls and disco balls are the same shape! Simply mix edible silver glitter and water and fill into the mould. We recommend our Golf Ball Ice Tray for highly detailed 3D ball shapes.
How to... make ice cream and jelly balls
To make ice cream balls…take a tub of your desired ice cream, and leave to soften for a few minutes. Scoop into some spherical ice moulds. You’ll need to take the two halves of the mould and fill them to the brim, then bring the two halves together and push before clipping them closed so that there won’t be a gap in the middle of your ice cream sphere.
To make jelly balls… take your cooled liquid jelly mixture, and pour into the spout of the closed sphere mould, fill to the top and freeze.
We recommend our Ice Sphere Moulds because they can be filled easily from the top spout, without having to take apart the mould until it’s frozen.
How to... prepare frozen dog treats in an ice mould
Find a fun ice mould to prepare your treats in, we recommend our Frenchie Dog Ice Tray. Your dog won't be able to tell the difference, but it’s all part of the fun! Blend dog-safe food such as:
Watermelon (skin and seeds removed)
Strawberries (green tops removed)
Carrot (peeled)
Blueberries
Banana
Sweet potato (mashed and cooked)
With something tasty to bind such as:
Honey
Coconut yoghurt (unsweetened)
Cottage cheese
Natural, plain yoghurt
And don't forget to add more water so that it freezes properly! Fill the moulds to the brim, freeze and let your pup enjoy it!
