What is a jigger?

A jigger is a double-sided spirit measuring tool, most commonly used by bartenders and cocktail creators. The most common jigger is a 25ml/50ml size, to measure common single or double measurements for drinks.

How do I use a jigger? 

Holding the narrowest point of the jigger, fill the spirit to the brim into one side for either a single or double measurement. Quickly twist your hand to pour the contents into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. 

What kind of cocktails do I need a jigger for?

Precision makes a big difference for all cocktails, but there are a few where particular consistency can upgrade the taste to a whole other level. 

• The Espresso Martini usually requires equal parts vodka, coffee liqueur and espresso - so precision is key
• A Negroni requires equal parts gin, vermouth and campari - a perfect balance is essential
• A Long Island Ice Tea typically requires 5 equal spirit measurements, vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec
